⛸️ Amigurumi Ice Skate Shoes Crochet Pattern

These festive crochet ice skates are designed as decorative winter boots with real skate blades. The finished pair features mint-blue boots, a warm brown sole and heel, a thick rolled white cuff, white bobble eyelets, embroidered snowflakes, crossed laces, and a sculpted double-layer blade — exactly like the skates shown in the image.

They are made as display skates, not wearable shoes.

Perfect for holiday décor, winter shelves, Christmas vignettes, and gift styling. ❄️🎄

✨ Skill Level

Intermediate — includes sole construction, 3D boot shaping, flat panels, bobble details, embroidery, and sculpted blade assembly.

📏 Finished Size (One Skate)

  • Boot length: 18–19 cm (7–7.5 in)
  • Boot height (with cuff): 16–17 cm (6.5 in)
  • Blade length: 17 cm (6.7 in)

Make two identical skates.

🧶 Materials

Worsted Weight Yarn

  • Mint / Teal – boot body
  • Warm Brown – sole & heel
  • White – cuff, eyelets, blade, snowflake
  • Matching lace cord (mint or white)

Tools

  • 3.5–4.0 mm hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Optional: plastic canvas or EVA foam for sole
  • Optional: thin stuffing strip for blade

🔤 Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR – magic ring
sc – single crochet
inc – increase
dec – decrease
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
BLO – back loop only
FO – fasten off

Work in continuous rounds unless stated.

🧱 Sole & Heel Block (Brown)

The skate sits on a thick boot sole with a raised heel block, just like real ice skates.

Sole (Oval Base)

Ch 12

Round 1:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 9, 3 sc in last ch
Turn underside: sc 9, 2 sc in last → 24

Round 2:
inc, sc 9, inc x3, sc 9, inc x2 → 30

Round 3:
(sc, inc), sc 9, (sc, inc) x3, sc 9, (sc, inc) x2 → 36

Round 4:
sc around (36)

This creates the flat skate boot sole.

Heel Block (Built on Top of Sole)

Now build the raised heel.

Round 5–10:
sc around (36)

This forms the rectangular heel platform seen in the photo.

👉 Optional: Insert a plastic canvas sole between Round 4–5 for firmness.

Do not fasten off.

🥾 Boot Body (Mint)

Attach mint yarn to the top edge of heel block.

Round 1–3: sc around (36)

Toe Shaping

Round 4:
sc 13, dec, sc 6, dec, sc 13 → 34

Round 5:
sc around (34)

Round 6:
sc 12, (dec, sc 2) x3, sc 11 → 31

This creates the rounded skate toe.

Boot Shaft

Round 7–16:
sc around (31)

Fasten off.

You now have a tall structured boot.

👅 Tongue (Mint – Flat Panel)

Ch 8

Rows 1–18:
sc 7, ch 1, turn

Fasten off.

Sew inside the front opening so it stands upright.

🤍 Rolled White Cuff

Attach white yarn at boot opening.

Round 1–3: sc around
Round 4: hdc loosely around

The hdc row naturally curls outward to form the thick rolled cuff.

⚪ Bobble Eyelets (White)

Make 12 per boot (6 per side).

MR, 5 sc, sl st, FO.

Sew in two neat vertical rows along tongue opening.

🧵 Laces

Ch 70–80 (firm tension).

Weave through bobbles in criss-cross pattern.
Hide ends inside boot.

❄ Snowflake Patch

MR, 6 sc.

In each stitch:

  • ch 5
  • sl st into 3rd ch
  • ch 2
  • sl st back into same stitch

Fasten off.

Sew onto outer ankle side.

⛸️ Skate Blade (White – Double Layer)

Each blade is two flat panels sewn together for thickness.

Make 4 panels total (2 per skate).

Blade Panel

Ch 48

Rows 1–7: sc 47

Row 8 (front curve): dec, sc 43, dec → 45
Row 9 (back lift): dec, sc 41, dec → 43

Fasten off.

Blade Assembly

Whipstitch two panels together.

Optional: insert a thin strip of stuffing for shape.

Gently curve:

  • Front 5–6 sts curl upward
  • Back 4–5 sts lift slightly
  • Bottom stays flat

This creates the carved skate blade profile.

🪡 Attaching the Blade

Position blade under sole:

  • Blade runs full length of sole
  • Slightly extends past toe and heel
  • Centered under heel block

Sew along both sides of blade directly to sole edges.

This locks the skate upright and prevents wobble.

🎀 Final Assembly

  • Sew tongue inside boot
  • Add snowflake patch
  • Attach all bobble eyelets
  • Lace boot
  • Roll cuff outward
  • Attach blade
  • Shape boot gently by hand

Repeat for second skate.

Your Ice Skates Are Complete!

A perfect winter display piece for holiday décor, photography props, Christmas vignettes, or handmade gifts.
